What is the best way to transport my cake?
Transport your cake on a completely flat surface in your vehicle. The footwell or flat boot floor is best. Do not place cakes on seats, laps or uneven surfaces.
How should I drive when transporting a cake?
Drive smoothly and carefully. Avoid harsh braking, rapid acceleration, fast cornering and sudden manoeuvres.
Can I leave my cake in the car?
No. Cakes should never be left unattended in a car, especially during warm weather. Even on mild days, temperatures inside a car can rise quickly and cause decorations, fillings and coverings to soften or melt.
How long can a cake stay in a car?
Only for the journey home or to the venue. Cakes should be removed from vehicles as soon as possible.
What temperature should a cake be stored at?
Store your cake indoors in a cool room away from direct sunlight, radiators, ovens, conservatories and heat sources. Only in very exceptional circumstances or where instructed, should the cake be stored in the fridge. If placed into a fridge then the cake may form condensation when removed and become sticky. It must be fully brought to cool room temperature before serving.
What cover do you have if anything happens to my cake when in my own care?
Once a cake leaves my care, any damage that occurs is on you I am afraid! I always give clear instructions about the transport and storage of a cake. If any damage occurs then I am not liable. If in doubt, just book delivery as I will always deliver the cake in perfect condition. I cannot accept responsibility once the cake is out of my care.
